Ceramic foam filter is a new type of material used to filter fluids such as molten metal. It has a unique structure and excellent performance and is widely used in industries such as casting.

1. Alumina:
Applicable temperature: 1250℃. Suitable for filtering and purifying aluminum and alloy solutions. Widely used in ordinary sand casting and permanent mold casting such as automotive aluminum parts casting.
Advantages:
(1) Remove impurities efficiently.
(2) Steady Molten aluminium flow and easy for filling.
(3) Reduce casting defect, improve surface quality and product properties.

2. SiC
It has excellent strength and resistance to high temperature impact and chemical corrosion, and can withstand high temperatures up to about 1560°C. It is suitable for casting copper alloys and cast iron.
Advantages:
(1) Remove impurities and improve the purity of molten metal efficiently.
(2) Reduce turbulence and even filling.
(3) Improve casting surface quality and yield, reduce defect risk.

3. Zirconia
The heat-resistant temperature is higher than about 1760℃, with high strength and good high-temperature impact resistance. It can effectively remove impurities in steel castings and improve the surface quality and mechanical properties of castings.
Advantages:
(1) Reduce small impurities.
(2) Reduce surface defect, improve surface quality.
(3) Reduce grinding, low down machining cost.

4. Carbon-based bonding
Developed specifically for carbon and low-alloy steel applications, the carbon-based ceramic foam filter is also ideal for large iron castings. It effectively removes macroscopic impurities from the molten metal while utilizing its large surface area to absorb microscopic inclusions, ensuring smooth filling of the molten metal. This results in cleaner castings and minimized
turbulence.
Advantages:
(1) Low bulk density, very low weight and thermal mass, resulting in a very low heat storage coefficient. This prevents initial molten metal from solidifying in the filter and facilitates rapid passage of the metal through the filter. Immediate filling of the filter helps reduce turbulence caused by inclusions and slag.
(2) Widely applicable process range, including sand, shell, and precision ceramic casting.
(3) Maximum operating temperature of 1650°C, significantly simplifying traditional pouring systems.
(4) Special three-dimensional mesh structure effectively regulates turbulent metal flow, resulting in uniform microstructure distribution in the casting.
(5) Efficiently filters smaller non-metallic impurities, improving the machinability of components.
(6) Improves the comprehensive mechanical properties of the casting, including surface hardness, tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and elongation.
(7) No negative impact on remelting of regrind containing filter material.

Ceramic Foam Filter

Ceramic Foam Filter

Ceramic foam filters are widely used in various metal casting processes and related high-temperature melt purification fields.

1. Aluminum alloy casting
This is their primary application field, covering the casting of auto parts (cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, wheel hubs), aerospace components, and rail transit aluminum profiles. They can effectively remove oxides, slag inclusions and other impurities from molten aluminum, improving the density and mechanical properties of castings.

2. Cast iron/steel casting
Applied in the production of gray iron, ductile iron, carbon steel and low alloy steel castings, such as engine blocks, machine tool beds and engineering machinery parts. They reduce the content of non-metallic inclusions in molten iron/steel, minimize casting defects like blowholes and cracks, and increase the qualified rate of finished products.

3. Non-ferrous metal casting
Suitable for filtering melts of copper alloys, magnesium alloys, zinc alloys, etc., such as manufacturing electronic and electrical enclosures, hardware accessories and die-casting mold parts. They prevent impurities from affecting product surface quality as well as electrical and thermal conductivity.

4. Other high-temperature melt treatment
Usable for the filtration and purification of high-temperature fluids like molten glass and fused ceramics. They play a role in the production of special glass and the melt purification process before ceramic sintering, enhancing the uniformity and quality of final products.
