Overview of High Alumina Bricks
High alumina bricks are premium shaped refractory materials made from high-quality bauxite through high-pressure molding and high-temperature sintering. Featuring excellent high-temperature resistance, thermal shock stability, slag erosion resistance and high mechanical strength, they are widely used in high-temperature industrial furnaces for cement, metallurgy, chemical, glass and ceramic industries. According to different alumina content, they are classified into Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3. Selecting the right grade effectively reduces furnace lining loss, cuts maintenance frequency, extends equipment service life and controls procurement costs, ensuring stable high-temperature production.
Grade 1 High Alumina Brick (Al₂O₃ ≥75%)
Grade 1 high alumina brick is a high-end refractory product with alumina content above 75%, delivering the best fire resistance and structural stability among all grades. Its refractoriness reaches up to 1750℃ with a high load softening temperature. It offers outstanding resistance to high-temperature scouring, molten slag erosion, pressure and abrasion, resisting deformation, cracking and peeling under ultra-high temperature and heavy-load conditions. It is widely applied in core high-temperature furnace zones such as blast furnace bottoms, steel ladle linings, electric furnace roofs, cement rotary kiln firing zones and glass furnace high-temperature sections.
Grade 2 High Alumina Brick (Al₂O₃: 60%–75%)
Grade 2 high alumina brick is a versatile mid-to-high-end refractory material with balanced performance between Grade 1 and Grade 3 products. With a refractoriness of 1480℃, it features excellent thermal shock stability to withstand frequent furnace temperature changes and avoid breakage. It also provides reliable acid and alkali corrosion resistance and mechanical wear resistance. It avoids the performance surplus of Grade 1 bricks and offers greatly upgraded strength compared with Grade 3 bricks. It is commonly used in rotary kiln preheating zones, decomposition furnaces, ceramic tunnel kilns, chemical reaction furnaces and medium-temperature heating furnaces.
Grade 3 High Alumina Brick (Al₂O₃: 48%–60%)
Grade 3 high alumina brick is a cost-effective refractory solution for low and medium-temperature working conditions. Its stable working temperature ranges from 1300℃ to 1400℃, with good thermal insulation, basic wear resistance and slight erosion resistance. Ideal for non-core low-temperature furnace areas, it greatly reduces material costs without sacrificing daily operational stability. Typical applications include furnace flues, thermal insulation linings, low-temperature heating furnaces, chimney liners and waste heat recovery equipment.
