Silica Refractory Bricks
Silica refractory bricks are high - quality refractory materials widely used in various high - temperature industrial fields.
1. Basic Information
Main Components: It is an acidic refractory material with silicon dioxide (SiO₂) as the main component, usually with a content of over 93%, and that of high - quality silica bricks can reach about 96%.
Typical Chemical Composition: Besides SiO₂, it also contains a small amount of Al₂O₃ (about 0.8% - 1%), MgO (about 0.001%), CaO (about 0.002%), and Fe₂O₃ (about 0.7% - 1.5%).
Physical Properties: The refractoriness is generally between 1770°C and 2000°C. The refractoriness under a load of 0.2MPa is 1630°C - 1680°C. The cold crushing strength is 30 - 35MPa, the bulk density is 1.8g/cm³, and the apparent porosity is 21% - 22%.
2. Production Process
The production process includes raw material selection, shaping, firing, and cooling. The main raw material is quartz, and binders such as lime and organic binders are added. After being formed into brick blanks, they are fired at a high temperature of 1350°C - 1430°C. The firing process requires precise temperature control, and the cooling process also needs to be carried out slowly to avoid cracks caused by rapid volume changes.
Features:
1. Strong resistance to acidic slag erosion: Silica bricks have strong resistance to corrosive substances such as acidic slag and molten metal, ensuring their long service life.
2. High load softening temperature: The load softening temperature of silica bricks is as high as 1640-1670℃, and the volume is relatively stable under long-term use at high temperature.
3. Good volume stability: At a high temperature of 1600℃, silica bricks can maintain a stable structure and have a low creep rate.
4. High chemical stability: Silica bricks have good resistance to oxides such as Al2O3, FeO, Fe2O3, but poor resistance to alkaline slag(such as CaO, K2O, Na2O).

1. Silica bricks are mainly used in the partition wall of the carbonization chamber and combustion chamber of the coke oven, the regenerator chamber and sediment chamber of the open hearth furnace of the steel making , the average heating furnace, the refractory material of the glass melting kiln and the kiln of the ceramic, and other bearing parts of the kiln.
